Gene Autry, a Pony Express rider, decides to start a stage line to carry the mail after the telegraph replaces the Pony Express. He's fired by his boss for being disloyal. Scheming townsmen try to discredit his boss's Pony Express riders and Gene's friend Smiley helps him smash the renegades and establish their own stage line.
