Frank McCloud visits a rundown hotel on Key Largo to pay respects to a fallen friend from his WWII unit. He's warmly received by his friend's widow and father, who manage the hotel, but they soon find themselves trapped by a gangster-led mob led by Johnny Rocco, who's hiding out to wait out a hurricane.
