The owner of a printing shop is murdered, and the District Attorney initially rules it a suicide. However, Assistant D.A. Howard Malloy believes the crime is linked to an extremist political group called the Crusaders. After a journalist critical of the group is also killed, Malloy is certain of his suspicions. With the help of a judge's widow, he conducts an investigation, encountering a mysterious political boss and a seductive nightclub singer who may aid or hinder his progress.
