Terry Baxter, a Kansas native, wins a trip to Hollywood and pursues a career as a dancer, only to become the secretary of screenwriter Haven. Despite her best efforts, she accidentally mixes up scripts and gets fired. In a misguided attempt to clear up the confusion, she tries to break into a residence, mistakenly thinking it belongs to Haven's boss Stuart, and is subsequently arrested. However, Stuart and Haven take pity on her and refuse to give up on her.
