His journey is marked by tragedy, corruption, and a crisis of faith. As a young man, Lamont witnessed his parents' murder by three men and a sheriff, leading to a life of sin and resentment. He abandons his wife and family to pursue a romantic relationship with his office assistant and a political career. His sons, Jonathan and Luke, are left to navigate their own path, emerging as leaders of the Black Foundation, a movement seeking reparations for African Americans.
