In 1463, the Duke of Burgundy besieges Paris, exploiting the king's inaction as the city's inhabitants struggle to survive. Meanwhile, King Louis disguises himself to identify a traitor, crossing paths with Francois Villon, a multifaceted individual known for his poetry, philosophical views, and dubious reputation. Villon's accidental killing of the king's traitor leads to an unexpected promotion: he is tasked with replacing the deceased as Grand Constable of France, but this new role comes with a significant complication.
