Ice-Capades background

Ice-Capades

Bob Clemens, a womanizing newsreel cameraman, is tasked with capturing the Swiss ice skater Karen Vadja's exhibition at Lake Placid, but his plane is delayed, causing him to miss the opportunity to film crucial footage.

A newsreel cameraman, Bob Clemens, is assigned to cover the Lake Placid exhibition of the Swiss ice Queen, Karen Vadja. However, he misses his plane and instead films a random ice skater, Marie Bergin, in Central Park. Unbeknownst to him, Marie is an overstayed visa holder. The footage sparks the interest of promoter Larry Herman, who decides to star Marie in an ice show called "Ice-Capades." Bob is dismayed when he learns he's obligated to build a show around Marie, a talented but eccentric woman. He tries to find her to cancel the show, but she evades him, thinking he's an immigration agent. Eventually, Bob and his assistant discover Marie and propose that she marry an American citizen to avoid deportation.
