In this movie, Public Enemy No. 3 Sonny McGann kidnaps a composer and his girlfriend, forcing him to write music to a poem about Sonny's lost love, Sadie. After completing the song, Sonny's mob uses strong-arm tactics to get it on the charts. The composer tries to resist by claiming he's too distracted by his unrequited love for a music star, but Sonny's solution is to bring the star and a minister to the penthouse, forcing the composer to marry her. However, the plan is foiled when Public Enemy No. 2, Big Foot Louie, reveals his own musical talents and Sonny realizes Magda is actually his long-lost love Sadie. The two former gangsters decide to leave their life of crime behind and write hit songs from prison.
