In rural Saskatchewan, the Mandolin family is shunned by their community. After the father's suicide, the community's negative perception of the family solidifies, and they arrange for a teenager, Snit, to be taken away to a group home where he faces abuse. Snit escapes and returns to his family farm, where his aunt is struggling to maintain the property. He agrees to a moonshine business with a friend, Johnny, who wants to escape his abusive father.
