Police Captain Michael Buckley sends his son Jimmy to infiltrate the mob's headquarters, but Jimmy is discovered and murdered by Big Louie Grenado. Buckley vows to arrest Louie and uses a clever ruse to get to him. He asks for help from Millie, who is in love with Joe, a truck driver trapped in Louie's gang. Buckley's plan is to make Louie believe Joe is his long-lost son, and it works. However, Louie's henchman Hugo tries to kill Joe, but Buckley sees through the plan and lets Louie know that one of his men squealed. In the end, Louie is killed by Buckley during a gunfight, and Buckley reveals to Louie that Joe is not really his son.
