Heidi, an orphan, is sent to live with her reclusive grandfather in the Swiss Alps, where she brings joy to everyone, including animals, and befriends a sheepherder boy. However, her aunt takes her to the city to work as a servant girl for a strict family, where she befriends a handicapped girl, Klara, and helps her feel better.
