In 1865, a Confederate troop attacks a Union-escorted gold wagon, killing all but one soldier who claims the war ended a month prior. The group decides to take the gold and meet their contact who knew the war ended, but didn't inform them. As they flee, they encounter a posse and after a series of mishaps, they're trapped in a station with a passenger, only to discover the posse is actually after the stolen gold.
