The current patriarch, Jeff Adams, is proud of his horses and ranch, but his love of gambling has led him to let the contract for horses fall into the hands of the cunning Brock Danver. Danver has his eyes on the Adams ranch and is also interested in Jeff's daughter Kim, who is a stage-struck performer. When Roy Rogers, a singing cowboy, rides into town, Kim helps him out of a jam and gives him a job on the ranch. Roy soon discovers Danver's scheme to ruin the Adams horse-raising business and sets out to thwart him. After Jeff is killed in a riding accident and Danver tries to have Trigger, the family's prized stallion, shot, Roy defies the order and hides Trigger in a meadow, where he trains the horse to be usable again. Meanwhile, Danver takes control of the Adams' business and tries to persuade Kim to give up her claim to the ranch, but Roy intervenes to save the day.
