In 1987, Sudan's Muslim government issued a death sentence for all male Christians in the south, prompting 27,000 boys to flee to Ethiopia on foot. After being forced to flee to Kenya in 1991, only 12,000 survived and were relocated to a UN camp in Kakuma. The film captures the 1,000-mile journey and life in the camp, before following three young men who repatriate to the US.
