A scientist named Dylan Hunt is cryogenically frozen in 1979 to test the feasibility of reviving him in a few days, but he doesn't awaken until 2133 due to a cavern collapse. When he awakens, he finds that the world has changed dramatically, with war and rebellion having occurred in his absence. The Pax, a society of scientists, is fighting against the war-loving military, while the mutant Tyranians seek to dominate the recovering world.
