In the small town of Bridgetown, district attorney Dexter Wayne and his assistant John Carter struggle to stop racketeer "Big Bill" Anderson's illegal activities. When Wayne is offered a bribe by Big Bill, John secretly records the meeting, thinking it will incriminate the racketeer. However, Wayne was actually playing a trap, and he is revealed to be the one who wrote the Junius letters to the newspaper.
