In 1980s Johannesburg, South Africa, three friends from different backgrounds share a house, each coping with apartheid in their own way. Thoko, a Black teacher, uses non-violent passive resistance, while Aninka, an Afrikaner, escapes reality through archaeology. Sophie, a white militant, secretly plants bombs in public places. Despite their differing views, their lives are forever altered when one of Sophie's bombs has devastating consequences.
