In the movie Sunset, a Texas Ranger faces two pressing concerns: the rustlers plaguing a region outside the state's borders and the desertion of a protégé, the Kid, whom he had helped become a Ranger.

In the movie, Sunset faces two major challenges: rustlers and the Kid's desertion. The rustlers, who operate in a territory outside the state and therefore beyond the Ranger's jurisdiction, plan to steal the ballot box that will decide the annexation of their land to the state. The Kid, who was made a Ranger with Sunset's help, learns of the rustlers' intentions and sets out to warn Sunset in a bid to redeem himself.
