A government agent, James Madison, tracks down a fugitive, Dr. Frederic Haskell, by his fingerprints on a water glass. Haskell is working with a shady lobbyist, Bruce Lane, to gain control of an aircraft plant. Madison poses as a businessman, Robert Edmunds, to gather information. Meanwhile, Haskell slips a poisoned pill into Madison's bottle, and Madison's digestion problems worsen.
