EDITH: VOLCANO ASCENT documents the journey of a small team attempting to set a world altitude driving record on Chile's Ojos del Salado, the highest active volcano on Earth, in a specially modified Porsche 911 named Edith. Spearheaded by a small group of Porsche engineers from within the company, the rogue project was considered extremely risky given the difficulty of the task. Known internally as a "submarine project," it was kept hidden from the public and many within Porsche, including the company's board of directors. The team made three attempts to reach the summit over four years, facing challenges such as technical issues and extreme weather above 20,000 feet, higher than Base Camps on Mt. Everest. They finally succeeded on the last possible day of the project, just before being shut down by executives. The unfolding story of this top-secret adventure is told from the perspective of filmmaker Niko Myyrä, who followed the team throughout a cold, gruelling, and dangerous three-year effort of the most extreme automotive hill-climb ever attempted in a sports car.
