In the lawless Durango Valley, a notorious outlaw known as "The Shadow" is wreaking havoc. Keene Cordner, despite ranch foreman Tanner's objections, takes a job on John McKay's ranch. However, when a sheriff arrives to investigate a murder, Keene is arrested on the basis of a deputy's eyewitness account. With the help of Tanner, Keene escapes and goes into hiding in a cabin, vowing to clear his name by tracking down the real Shadow.

In a bid to take down the notorious outlaw gang controlling Durango Valley, Keene Cordner joins forces with Tanner to become a dual identity, posing as the Shadow in a daring attempt to round up the gang.
