Gene Autry and his friend Frog Millhouse discover that two swindlers are selling fake stock in a movie, claiming it will star John Wayne. They track the pair to Mexico, where they suspect they're about to swindle a wealthy citizen out of his savings. Gene falls in love with the citizen's daughter, Maria Elena, and they devise a plan to expose the crooks.
