France, 1970. The Yé-Yé age is a time of joy and happiness, but the lives of Baron Claude Tranchant and his wife Baroness Élaine are shocked when a friend has an accident while driving Élaine's car, revealing that the brakes were cut. Convinced someone is trying to kill Élaine, Claude calls his friend Jacques Chirac, who sends Commissar Maurice Lefranc to investigate. Lefranc is forced to assign the incompetent detective Jean Boullin to the case, who travels to the Baron's summer house to investigate disguised as a waiter.
