French Foreign Legion Captain Edwards returns to his post with his desert patrol, only to be ambushed by an Arab tribe. He and his sergeant, Benet, are the sole survivors. Edwards and Benet are later tasked with gathering a new patrol. While Benet recruits volunteers, Edwards visits his wife, Celie, who has betrayed him with another officer, Lieutenant Forbes. The tension between Edwards and Forbes is palpable as they embark on their perilous mission. Despite losing men to the deadly Tuaregs, Edwards perseveres, uncovering a plot by rival Tuaregs to sabotage a peace treaty and start a new war.
