When Rudy's father abandoned him on Christmas 30 years ago, he vowed to celebrate the holiday every day until his father returned. Three decades later, Rudy is still going strong, but his obsession with Christmas has left him with no friends, no future, and no family. Despite his loneliness, Rudy remains convinced that Christmas brings out the best in people. His coworker Clarice, who is also quirky and lonely, develops a crush on Rudy. However, his true desire is to be like the cool guy he sees on the train, and he becomes convinced that a scarf he finds belongs to him. This sets him on a wild journey to throw a Christmas party, despite it being Valentine's Day, and to find the cool guy from the train. Along the way, Rudy confronts his past and the true meaning of Christmas, learning that even the greatest achievements in life are meaningless without someone to share them with.
