Captain Alan Gaskell, a former hard-drinker, tries to reform after rekindling a romance with a refined English lady, Sybil Barclay. However, his ex-girlfriend Dolly is jealous of their relationship and tries to win him back, but her loud and uncivilized behavior fails to impress him. When Asian pirates take over the ship, Captain Gaskell discovers that Dolly and her friend Jamesey MacArdle are involved in the crime, forcing him to confront the consequences of his past.
