A group of starving Cheyenne Indians, tired of being mistreated by the government, embark on a 1,500-mile journey back to their ancestral hunting grounds. Captain Thomas Archer, a US Cavalry officer, is tasked with retrieving them, but instead forms a bond with the tribe and decides to aid them.
