Charulata

A middle-aged woman, married to a newspaper editor, finds herself drawn to her husband's cousin who is visiting from out of town, and they bond over their shared passion for literature.

In 1870s India, Charu's life is marked by loneliness and idleness until her husband Bhupati introduces her to his brother-in-law Umapada, who keeps her company. Meanwhile, Bhupati's cousin Amal, a would-be writer, returns home after completing his education, and Charu and Amal's literary friendship blossoms into something more.
