In post-WWII England, a farm-implement factory becomes a battleground for labor and management struggles. When a worker leader, Baxter, goads the factory owner, Dickens, into wishing he could experience the difficulties of being a worker, the workers seize the opportunity to take matters into their own hands. They elect Stevens and Morris to lead the management team, and initially, everything runs smoothly. However, the new leaders' mistakes soon lead to renewed discontent among the workers, highlighting the challenges of reconciling the interests of labor and management.
