In 1883, the Wyoming Territory is home to the Teton cattle ranch, owned and operated by Sam Brassfield. He's joined by his loyal staff, including foreman Ed Winters, his wife Ruth, and Mexican worker Johnny Quatro. Sam's also taken in his nephew and niece, Webb and June Carter, after their parents' unfortunate circumstances. As Sam tries to implement a more sustainable approach to ranching, he faces opposition from neighboring ranchers, particularly his former mentor Clay Mathews, a Texas cattle baron with a self-serving agenda.
