Two marketing experts revive old western films featuring "Smoky" Callaway, starring Howard Keel, and air them on TV. The movies become a huge success, but the star's whereabouts are unknown. A lookalike named "Stretch" Barnes, also played by Howard Keel, is hired to impersonate Callaway, leading to complications when the real star finally appears.
