In the small town of Oreville, a new school teacher named Anne Lamont is escorted by Jimmy Wakely and Cannonball Taylor. However, their journey takes a dark turn when she is attacked by two outlaws, Tom Slade and Cal Derringer. Marshal Blackjack Flint, who is revealed to be Anne's father, is wounded by Slade, but Derringer ultimately kills him and begins to blackmail Flint.
