Bombay Beach is a poor community in southern California, located on the shores of the Salton Sea, a once-beautiful vacation spot now a pool of dead fish. The film tells the story of three protagonists: Benny, a young boy with bipolar disorder; CeeJay, a black teenager and aspiring football player; and Red, an ancient survivor living on whiskey, cigarettes, and a love of life. Together, their portraits form a triptych of manhood, questioning whether they are a product of their world or if their world is a construct of their own imaginations.
