Paul Dover, a Parisian artist, is visited by Julia Fraser, an art buyer and critic who challenges his work. However, when she finds a piece she likes, he quotes a high price, intriguing her. This unusual encounter is set against the backdrop of Paul's sister Ellen, married to a wealthy politician, being blackmailed over her past love letters. Paul agrees to help and retrieves the letters, which are shipped to the Los Angeles Art Museum. He must then pose as blind and, with the help of his new seeing-eye dog Ace, track down the letters, evade a criminal gang, and save his sister's marriage.
