A notorious gangster, Vincent Canelli, orchestrates a daring escape from prison just before his scheduled execution, abducting Peter Manning, a bank robber and cop killer, in the process. Together, they take several hostages and set out to steal the loot from Manning's previous heist to fund their own escape from the country.
