Bitter Springs background

Bitter Springs

Tommy Trinder stars in a film about resolving cultural conflicts as he arrives to mediate a dispute between Wally King and an Aboriginal tribe whose land is being threatened.

In the heart of central Australia, Wally King and his family embark on a treacherous journey to claim their new land at Bitter Springs, despite warnings from a government trooper that they're trespassing on sacred Aboriginal territory. Tensions escalate when King's son accidentally kills a kangaroo meant for the local tribe, leading to a series of violent confrontations and abductions. As the situation spirals out of control, the family finds themselves cutoff from their only source of water, with the Aboriginal clan determined to force them out. Just as all hope seems lost, reinforcements arrive, bringing a chance for a peaceful resolution and a glimpse into a future where whites and blacks can coexist.
