Bill Denny, a happily married man, returns home without a present for his second wedding anniversary, much to his mother-in-law's disapproval. Instead, he brings home a stray Welsh terrier, named Archie, who Kate adores. Unbeknownst to the couple, Archie was trained by smugglers to facilitate their illegal transactions. As Bill tries to get rid of Archie, he inadvertently becomes entangled in the smugglers' scheme, while a detective investigates a series of murders connected to Bill.
