Charlie Dakin, a former gang leader, is released from prison and reunited with his devoted wife, who is waiting to take him to an abandoned Arizona mine where a million dollars in gold is hidden. However, their happiness is short-lived as they are trailed by rival gangster Max Giorga and his henchman. Dakin meets and falls in love with Raquel Chavez, but their relationship is threatened when Giorga forces Dakin into a deal to salt the gold and sell it to the government. Despite the temptation, Dakin's heart remains pure and he eventually fights Giorga to protect the gold and its intended use for the benefit of the people.
