Gat Brady, a seemingly respectable businessman, is actually a racketeer being pursued by authorities trying to crack down on crime in New York. Despite his associates' violent tendencies, Gat has always protected his teenage daughter Annabelle, who has no idea about his criminal past. When his true identity is discovered, he's forced to remove her from school and take her away to shield her from his negative reputation. However, he's arrested and sentenced to five years in federal prison for tax evasion. In prison, Gat and Ann work together, with Ann forming a relationship with the prosecutor who put him away, and Gat trying to stay out of trouble to get an early release.
