Two scientists, Robert Jones and Frank Enari, are sent to replace a missing colleague, Dr. Vogel, at a research station on Tower Mountain. Dr. Vogel's last communication with the base was concerning, revealing a confused and anxious state. The new scientists, accompanied by a chimpanzee for cold weather tests, arrive at the station via helicopter, only to find it ransacked and Dr. Vogel nowhere to be found.
