The sitcom "Empty Nest" follows the daily misadventures of a widowed pediatrician, Harry Weston, and his two adult daughters, Barbara and Carol, who move back in with him after their failed marriages. The show's humor stems from the daughters' struggles to find the perfect partner and leave their childhood home, as well as their encounters with their flirtatious next-door neighbor, Charlie Dietz, and Harry's quirky southern nurse, Laverne Todd.
Harry is proposed to eighteen months after the death of his wife.
