Women of the Movement background

Women of the Movement

An anthology series focusing on the civil rights movement, featuring interviews with female activists who were at the forefront of the movement.

The series is based on the true story of Mamie Till-Mobley, who in 1955 risked her life to bring justice for her son Emmett after he was brutally murdered in the Jim Crow South. Despite feeling a deep sense of grief and injustice, Mamie chose to share her pain publicly, becoming an activist for justice and igniting the Civil Rights movement as we know it today.
