Trials and tribulations unfold at Pittsburgh's WENN radio station in the late 1930s, a time when radio reigned supreme.

In 1930s Pittsburgh, college student Betty Roberts lands an internship at WENN, a radio station known for its eccentric employees. Mackie Bloom, a master of accents, Hilary Booth, a drama queen, Mr. Foley, a silent sound effects expert, Tom Eldridge, a clueless but lovable character, and Jeffery Singer, who's stuck in a marriage of convenience with Hilary, all work together to keep the station running.
