In 2001, visionary Stephen Holstrom founded Logorhythms with the mission to achieve digital immortality through "Uploaded Intelligence" or UI, which involves scanning human brains and uploading them to the cloud. Years later, after Holstrom's death, Logorythms continued his project using illegal and unethical means to reach its goals. Maddie Kim, a bullied teenager, receives mysterious help from her deceased father David online. It turns out that David's consciousness was successfully uploaded during an experimental brain scan by Logorythms. Maddie seeks to save her father, but the family faces danger from Logorythms. Meanwhile, Caspian, a troubled teenage boy raised in a constructed environment unaware of his true reality, encounters Maddie through a chatroom. Together, they search for the truth about their situation. Chanda, an engineer from India's Alliance Telecom company, wishes to usher in a digital utopia but is kidnapped by his corrupt boss and secretly scanned. He escapes his virtual prison as a rogue wildcard. With Maddie and Caspian at the center of a global conspiracy threatening a new world war, the story unfolds with twists and turns that challenge their understanding of reality.
