Hinata Shouyou was a short middle school student who developed a sudden love for volleyball after watching a national championship match on TV. Determined to emulate the star player of that championship, Hinata joined his school's volleyball club with only one member, facing limited practice opportunities due to lack of teammates. Despite this challenge, Hinata persevered and eventually recruited five other players in his final year, competing against an opponent known as "the king of the court" Kageyama Tobio in a crucial first-round match. Though Hinata's team suffered a crushing defeat, he vowed to improve and surpass Kageyama. Now starting his first year at high school, Hinata plans to join the volleyball team and work tirelessly to dominate Kageyama again. However, this plan is disrupted when he discovers that Kageyama is also attending the same school. To ensure their success, Hinata must learn to communicate better and cooperate as teammates rather than engaging in constant bickering.
