Two old friends, Fred and Mick, relax at an elegant hotel in the Alps, reflecting on their children's struggles and their own creative pursuits. Fred, a retired composer and conductor, has no desire to return to his musical career, while Mick, a still-active movie director, is racing to finish his latest screenplay. However, a mysterious figure will stop at nothing to hear Fred conduct once more.
