Angie, a talented but self-destructive musician, is now in her 40s and terminally ill. Struggling financially, she plays in a rundown pub to fund her final album. When she meets Ruby, a teenage runaway, Angie forms a bond with her, teaching her to play guitar and write songs. However, as Ruby becomes more dependent on Angie, it becomes increasingly difficult for Angie to reveal the truth to her new friend - she only has months left to live.
