A policeman is tasked with transporting two children, Rosetta and her brother Luciano, from Milan to an orphanage in Sicily after their mother is arrested for forcing her 11-year-old daughter into prostitution. Initially, the relationship between the policeman and the children is strained, but eventually they form a bond and become temporary friends.
