A prospector named Sam Cooper strikes gold with his partner in Nevada, but their partnership turns sour when Sam's partner becomes greedy and violent. Sam takes refuge in a gold mine, where he sets a trap and blows up his partner. Alone, Sam sets out for the nearest town, encountering a group of outlaws who steal his belongings, except for the gold dust. Sam abandons the gold and continues on foot, eventually reaching the town and sending for his trusted son, Manolo. However, Manolo's friend, a ruthless killer named Brent, also arrives, seeking a share of the gold. Sam reluctantly agrees to take both Manolo and Brent, along with an old army buddy, Mason, who joins the group in search of profits. As they prepare to head to Sam's secret gold mine, the group attracts the attention of the local storekeeper, who senses they may be after a big strike.
