Nero's disastrous reign is marked by the failed invasion of Parthia. Two Roman legions are stranded in the snowy Armenian mountains, succumbing to the harsh conditions. Meanwhile, the rest of the Roman army is stuck in Syria, just a two-week march away, but the treacherous terrain is infested with Parthian patrols. To make matters worse, Nero entrusts Noreno, a half-Roman with a troubled past, with the perilous mission of crossing the mountains to seek aid. Despite being an elite runner, Noreno's loyalties are questionable, as he harbors a deep-seated resentment towards Rome.
